Unlike in English there are seldom exceptions in pronouncing German words.

That means, they are usually pronounced as they are written.

(like Blume [blu:mə], Frau [frau], groß [gro:s] etc.)

Regarding German consonants they are easy to pronounce as there are not many exceptions.
