Die deutschen Buchstaben

The German language uses the same 26 alphabets as we know them in English. However, it has four additional alphabets which are specifically German. Below is a list of all 30 alphabets and how they are called in German. It is important to know the alphabets so that you can spell words, for instance your name.

Listen to the alphabets individually or click on the speaker icon to hear all the alphabets at one go. To the right of the alphabets you will find the suggested transcription in English. To listen to the sounds, you will need Real Player (click on the plug-in icon in the top frame to download).
