Angklung
|
The Angklung is a musical instrument originating in Indonesia. The region most famous for the Angklung is West Java. It is made of bamboo, from the main body of the Angklung to its stand. Most Angklungs play a single note. An Angklung is played simply by shaking it and it will produce sound with a certain note. When someone shakes the instrument, the bamboo tube is being "hit" and produces sound. When angklung is shaken continuously, the impression of bamboo tube being hit disappears and what materializes is actually a sound that is similar to that of a wind instrument like the flute. |

Our very own Angklung orchestra mesmerized the whole lecture hall with just two songs, Topi Saya Bundar and Anak Kambing Saya. The performance received resounding applause and cheers. The orchestra is formed by 30 students and coordinated by Ibu Susanna and Ibu Johanna. |
Performancers were all seated together in the middle of the LT according to the note that they play. Their performance was truly impressive during the project day, considering they only had three 2 hours lessons to practise. A major difficulty they faced during training was the coordination between the accompaniment and the main instruments. Nevertheless, everybody did a good job on project day and it is something they can be proud of.
